The last two weeks have gone by so fast I can hardly believe it! Here are some pictures and life snippets in captions. Warning: prepare yourself to be jealous of my “office” pictures.
First week on the job: pond cleanup! Working and playing hard 😉 Photo by Corey Bower
Science in action: measuring water flow through the weir. Photo by Carly SummersWildlife alert: baby diamond back rattlesnake, just looking, no touching! Photo by Corey BowerNow this is an office I could get used to! Photo by Corey BowerThe pond cleanup was for Fishing Day with the Bend School! Yep, you read correctly: I was helping kids fish for work! Photo by Eric CoulterI made my first visit to the community theater on September 13 to see the play Deathtrap. Photos by Carly SummersAs many of you know, wildfires are a huge issue in drought-stricken California. The helicopter in this photo just dumped its water load onto a nearby fire and is going to fetch another bucket full. Photo by Carly SummersThe Mighty Mt. Shasta! We hope to climb to the top one of these days. Photo by Carly SummersBeautiful clear lake, just another office visit! Aside: the water is quite chilly! Photo by Carly SummersDam! Shasta Dam, that is, and the start of the Sacramento River. Oh, and yes, I am still at the “office.” Photo by Carly SummersSomething I have learned since starting: selfies are way more fun when you work outside. At least Corey is working 😛 We are at Squaw Creek and had to climb over rocks and boulders upstream a ways to take a water quality sample; it was like a jungle gym playground for adults! Photo by Carly SummersJust another view from the office. Somewhere along the Sacramento River. Photo by Carly SummersPsyched to see the Banff Radical Reels Tour with my co-worker Laura! The people in the videos pursue the extremes of outdoor sports, but don’t worry Mom, I’m not planning to base jump anytime soon. Photo by a friendly strangerLike I said, the opportunities for quality selfies have vastly improved (that, or I just don’t care about looking like a total dork). This was taken at a quick stop by the Coleman National Fish Hatchery. Photo by Carly Summers (or the fish!)I live in an area surrounded by amazing hiking opportunities, so obviously we had to go! Photo by Carly SummersMy co-worker Laura hugging one of the GIANT trees in the Trinity Alps Wilderness area where we went hiking – and this wasn’t the only one that big! Photo by Carly SummersSix miles of hiking bliss! You should definitely come visit me 🙂 Photo by Laura Brodhead
Oh, and Happy First Day of Fall! The weather in Redding today will be sunny with the high temperature in the chilly upper 80’s/low 90’s (it has been seriously hot here). Reading everyone’s fall Facebook posts has been hard to reconcile with my current weather conditions. 😛
Looks like you have a great “office.” What a change from the one you just left to you “new office!” Yes I’m envious. Not so much this week because I’m on Edisto Island for a week’s vacation! Keep the posts coming!

Thanks Annette! I agree, the decorator is second to none 😉
