PACIFIC FISHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pacific fisher!

Explanatory material:

– OHV: “Off-Highway Vehicles,” our BLM field office manages a large OHV area
– Trail 1: the particular trail/road we hiked off of in the OHV area and where we scored our Pacific fisher photos
– Game cam = game camera
– Gusto: super stinky lure for placing on vegetation near camera setup; seriously, you have no idea until you smell this stuff
– Meat socks: old socks with meat scraps in them to attract carnivores
– Hope: wishing, hoping, yearning to get a picture
– Pacific fisher: candidate for endangered species listing, so if we find them, it matters – and we were SUPER pumped to get a set of pictures, one of which is above

And the haiku from yesterday:

15.1.14 haiku

Explanatory material:

– Turnpike: the name of the road the proposed timber sale is located off of
– Cavities: as in “tree cavities,” the ones we found may be used by Pacific fisher as denning sites, so we will undertake game camera monitoring to establish their presence (or “no detect”) in the area

I made it!
I made it!
